CRD Infection

Chronic respiratory diseases (CRD)

Chronic respiratory diseases (CRD) are chronic diseases of the airways and other structures of the lung. Infection in chickens is also known as Chronic Respiratory Disease (CRD). Chronic respiratory disease (CRD) is one of the most common diseases. It is the disease most frequently encountered in poultry. It is caused by Mycoplasma synovia in association with Escherichia coli.

CRD occurs when chickens and turkeys that are infected with Mycoplasma gallisepticum are stressed. The bacteria then causes major damage to the bird's respiratory system.
